II - Intelligent Internet. AI that's more aligned?

TL;DR

Just when you thought that AI was going to ruin everything: II comes along bringing an entirely different point of view..

II is focused where AI might actually be most useful. For normal humans, not for tech-bad-boys pushing their $scheme$ onto the public. A bootcamp participant can consult II, when AI doesn’t seem aligned.

KEY POINT: AI is for families, cultures, and nations. That’s where it is going to work the best.

Is II an Institution?

Yes, and no - but we won't resolve that here.

II is in the early stages of forming as a worldwide instituion.

It is preliminary to speak of it as complete, but it is well on it's way in more than one country and/or state.

Introducing Emad

Emad Mostaque might seem like some super-genius if you listen to him explain some math on Moonshots. Then you find him talking about the higher importance making dinner with his family as a much higher priority. His latest new venture - II - starts making more sense, then.

Emad works on AI that can be used by the family in their own preferred way.

Or, AI that is managed by nations to help citizens within their own cultures.

It's a much different world view than what we get from the attention economy that AI drives us toward.

II as Math

Let's be honest here.

Who among us thinks about a) preserving culture, and b) bitcoin, as working together to mathematically enhance a desired personal state?

Right. Of course, Never thought about that. Weird, huh?

Super concentrated free AIs

Let's take another example.

Emad's shop built a competitor to chatGPT, claude, and grok but it only addresses basic medical knowledge.

What's the point? Runs on a small laptop for free, super fast, and it doesn't take you down unrelated winding dirt roads. Perhaps we never thought of the value that specialized free AI models could provide for us, as humans.

Emad as a Doomer

Emad sometimes declares as a 50% doomer, other times as a 20% doomer.

An AI doomer is someone who guesses that there is a n% probability that AI will end human life.

Emad is pretty "meh" about the whole thing. As if to say "Heh, if it happens, it happens." But he likes math, and he likes figuring out ways to lower the probability of our own doom.

It can be helpful to listen to him talk about it, and reflect on what your own position might be.

Too much to hint at

Whatever you are doing with or even against AI, II will help you get a fresh view of possibilities you might not have considered, before.
